Do I need a ChatGPT or Claude subscription to use Aura Story Builder?

You need access to some AI chat model to generate the story text (ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini all work), but Aura Story Builder itself has no API costs or token fees. The wizard builds the prompt for you and you paste the AI's reply back in.

Where are my stories actually stored?

Locally on your device, using the browser's File System Access API. There's no account required to start and no database on our end. Google Drive sync is available as an optional premium add-on for reading across multiple devices.

Can I add my own illustrations?

Yes, the reader has image slots throughout the story that you click to embed your own pictures, turning plain AI-generated text into an illustrated book.

Can I read the finished book outside the browser?

One-click EPUB export packages the story, styling, and images into a standard .epub file that opens in Apple Books, Google Play Books, or any other e-reader app.
